Start with the question closest to your situation. Read the judgment first, then decide whether your own chart needs a closer look.
What Are the Five Elements? Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water
The Five Elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, but they are not five substances. They are five ways things behave: Wood extends outward, Fire burns and makes visible, Earth absorbs and holds, Metal cuts and sets limits, Water flows and adapts. A reading does not count which one you have most or least of. It asks whether the energy can move between them or is jammed at one point — which is why "supplement whatever you are missing" is the most common misunderstanding of the whole system.
Body Rhythm in Chinese Tradition: What It Cannot Replace
Traditional Chinese medicine shares vocabulary with Bazi — Five Elements, yin and yang, seasonal rhythm — which is why people assume a birth chart can say something about their body. It cannot, and that boundary is not a formality. What the tradition genuinely offers a non-practitioner is a vocabulary for noticing patterns in sleep, energy, digestion, and stress. Anything past noticing belongs to a qualified clinician.
