A useful test of any reading: does it name something unfavourable, and does it give you a date by which you can check it?
What if I do not know my birth time?
You can still read most of it. The year, month, and day pillars are unaffected, which means Day Master strength, the core structure, and the ten-year luck cycles remain readable. Only conclusions that depend on the hour pillar need to be marked uncertain. What you should not accept is a reading that quietly invents an hour so the chart looks complete — every sentence after that rests on a guess.
How is Bazi different from Western astrology?
Western astrology reads planetary positions at birth; Bazi reads the calendar itself, converting the moment into eight characters that carry Five Element relationships. In practice the difference is one of emphasis: sun-sign astrology is usually asked about character, while Bazi is usually asked about timing — whether this is a season to push or to hold.
